Ricky Lee

Skipper/ Marine Technician


Ricky joined Sonardyne in 2012 specialising in Marine systems, trials planning and co-ordination, & subsea systems equipment maintenance.

Ricky has always worked with vessels and also within the marine industry and is a former marine engineer/ boat builder, building boats to the high standards set by Seafish & MCA.

He has an extensive knowledge of the local waters and having skippered commercial fishing vessels from the age of 16 Ricky holds a skippers commercially endorsed MCA certificate.

Nick Sheraton

Facilities & Operations Manager


Nick has been with Sonardyne since 2010 as a qualified commercially Endorsed MCA skipper and Marine Technician.

Nick Now coordinates vessel operations, planning and organization of trials at Plymouth and management of the facilities.

Having served in the Royal Navy and worked in the marine industry since 1986 he has experience in various areas of maritime operations, South-west waters and small vessel management.

Adrian Barlow

Marine Systems Engineer


Adrian has been with Sonardyne sine 2010 as specialist equipment maintainer including Subsea equipment, RTK GPS

Adrian previously worked in the boatbuilding industry for 25 years as a marine electrical and electronics’ engineer specialising in Radar, GPS and on board systems.

Having owned his own catamaran for 15 years within the South-west areas Adrian is an experienced skipper holding a commercially endorsed MCA certificate.

Stuart Slade



Stuart studied Ocean Science at Plymouth University and graduated in 2003.  Stuart is a keen diver with an interest in Underwater Archaeology.

Stuart joined Sonardyne in 2013 as part of the training team, utilising his experience of LBL projects in the North Sea; in particular inverted LBL rig moves and subsea metrology operations. More recently he has developed his skills further and is now training lead for Inertial Navigation courses and ‘all in one’ metrology software ‘Connect’.

Tom Rooney

Lead Trainer


Tom joined the Sonardyne Training Team in June 2014 having left the Royal Navy after 25 years as a systems engineer, and achieved his Cert Ed and Diploma (LLS) at Plymouth University graduating in 2012.

Tom also represents Sonardyne as an active STEM ambassador in the local community, has assisted Plymouth University Ocean Science under and post graduates with their dissertation studies and is an assessor for the South West Engineering Education Scheme.
